About Project
This contemporary House, renovated in the middle of Anna nagar, Chennai, is a rigid example of marriage between an architect's concept and client’s understanding of civil engineering. This strong bond gives birth to a house which makes one feel enthusiastic, and thus the name “Utsaha”. This serene residence, amidst a quiet culdesac blends itself comfortably in the middle of the trees with its brick jali facade. The house, which was meticulously put together over the course of a year, is a building for kids where they feel enthusiastic and joyful all the time. The essence of it is an amalgamation of the client being a civil engineer, friendship between client and the architect, connections with the surrounding, and an integrated creation of contemporary design choices. Entering the Utsaha residence is like entering a light well and a space which has blurred the boundaries of inside and out. The diffused light from the brick jali facade, the water pond in the living room reflecting dreamy patterns from the skylight, and more elements like the solid wood used from skirting to the ceiling makes one feel a strong bond with the building. Built on a site enclosed by the drama of Anna Nagar, the house stands out as an emotional tool to satisfy client’s needs and always provide something more than a shelter. Skylight staircase, thoughtful tweaks to the existing structure, brick jali facade, and a thoughtful design are the highlights of this house. The architect pushes us to believe in the strength of architecture to trigger joy and enthusiasm, exhibiting how bonds and emotions are important in the design field.
