About Project
Located in a tight urban context in the old city of Surat, Tiny House is a five-storeyed house made on a plot area of merely 354 sq. ft. The house seamlessly belongs to its surroundings without taking away its cultural and contextual relevance.
A striking feature of the house is a Hume pipe designed into the elevation that houses a tree leading up to the balcony on the first floor. Metal louvers with perforations form an integral part of the elevation which allow the flexibility of complete permeability or privacy from the street.
All the liveable spaces have been pushed to the front part of the house while the staircase shaft abuts the rear end, establishing a smooth vertical access throughout. Openable metal louvers, consistent material palette, smart permeability of sufficient light and ventilation, and green spaces on the facade are some key highlights of the project.
