The CourtYard House

Located in a gated community in the Surya Vihar township in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, this minimalistic home binds the residences of two brothers through a central courtyard. The design philosophy revolves around familial connection. This connection is explored through courtyard, and an open plan layout that transcends boundaries between the two houses. The two homes have a distinct character that is unveiled at the entrance of each home. While one home boasts of a black staircase, the other has a white one creating a stark contrast. The clean lines, monochromatic palette, and wooden tones harmoniously sit together to create a sense of calmness. The use of indigenous materials and Scandinavian inspired furniture lends a timeless character.
