About Project
Born out of an experimentation, this home in Alwar revives the lost craft of natural homes built using old construction techniques indigenous to the local context. Mud takes center stage for the architect, who designs this home for her mother-in-law practicing organic farming.
A compact home with minimal functions, the challenge was to blend the inside and the outside in a well-ventilated built form naturally lit from all sides. A sloping roof sandwiched between two open terraces adds drama to the volumes. Natural materials are utilized to their fullest potential, adding strength, insulation, and aesthetics to the overall structure.
The rammed earth walls, central living room, and materiality of the two distinct bedrooms are some key highlights of the project.
