About Project
Located on the outskirts of Bangalore, Long House is a contemporary interpretation of minimalist architecture rooted in natural principles. Designed on a 6,500 sq. ft. plot within a gated community, the home is organized around a C-shaped plan, embracing a central courtyard that forms the spatial and emotional heart of the house. The architectural language is defined by clean geometries and an interplay of stacked volumes, with a striking 24-foot cantilever forming the most distinctive gesture, serving both as a visual highlight and a functional carport.
The house is thoughtfully oriented to open toward both a landscaped waterbody and the internal courtyard, ensuring an immersive connection to the outdoors from every major space. Material choices, including exposed concrete, warm teak wood, and natural stone, reflect a restrained palette and enhance the sensory experience of each space. Large openings, framed in wood, bring in ample daylight while maintaining visual continuity with the surrounding landscape.
Every detail, from the cantilevered windows to the fluid transition between formal and informal living spaces, has been carefully considered to balance privacy, openness, and comfort. This residence offers a calm, enduring framework for modern living, while remaining deeply responsive to its environment.
