About Project
Janani ജനനി - translated to “mother” - is a new beginning to the client & his family. One must travel through the calming nooks and narrow lanes of the settlements on the outskirts of Thrissur to reach this piece of art. Rooted in the rich architectural heritage of Kerala, Janani is designed with a sloping terracotta roof, seamlessly integrating traditional elements with modern living. The house opens with a traditional Padipurra, leading into a spacious family gathering area and sit-out space. Most of the essential spaces—including the living room, kitchen, dining, and bedroom—are thoughtfully situated on the ground floor, while the first floor houses serene spaces like the reading nook and master bedroom.
The double-height living foyer and dining area enhance the sense of space and light. Further, the home features a lush lawn connected to the living area through expansive windows, including a charming bay window in the master bedroom that offers a panoramic view of the spaces below. The design is thoughtfully tailored to accommodate mental comfort. Natural light and strategically placed windows play a significant role in the simple and charming interior design, emphasising a desire to limit complex and cluttered elements and ensuring a harmonious living environment.
