About Project
Described as a ‘tropical home’ made to hold the passer-by’s attention, this home in Kannur is surrounded by greenery and blends traditional Kerala architecture with modern design elements. This was a result of the client’s desire to create a unique home with elements of surprise.
One of these elements is a green courtyard that sits in the centre. Naturally lit from all sides, the courtyard separates the public spaces from the family spaces in this 4-bedroom home. This also opens the home up, with minimal construction of partition walls.
The sloping roof, floating staircase and natural material palette are some of the key highlights of the project. The Principal Architects walk us through the home and explain the design elements and key materials that make the spaces feel open yet cosy.
