About Project
Far From the Stone Street is located in a gated community in Bangalore. Designed for a couple that stays with their family, this house experimented with colours and textures. Designed to look like a medieval, rustic home, it emanated a countryside feel while being nestled in a very urban context. A striking feature of the house is the replication of a fireplace achieved using a very interesting composition of large sized local stones clad on the wall with a timber mantle. Kalighat art from Kolkata, use of interesting tapestry and bold colours complete this space. Other interesting areas include an open kitchen with random rubble masonry finished in Jaisalmer stone, a double heighted master bedroom, a quaint little writing desk and an eclectic entrance foyer. Use of bold colours, natural stones, interesting and experimental textures and prints and décor that is a fine mix of medieval, Indian, and rustic elements are some of the key highlights of this project. The principal designer walks through the house, giving an insight into how she translated the client’s vision and personality, amalgamating it with her own design sensibilities to shape this family home.
