About Project
Nirbhay Nirgun’, a poem by Sant Kabir, set in motion an immersive design journey towards the creation of a formless house in the vast and open landscapes of Gujarat. Referred to as 'a house without elevations’, the project surfaces from the absence of context. This prompts the architect to shift his perception and create an inward-looking home with meditative spaces that evoke emotion deep within.
An intersection of abstract curves and straight lines creates a composition of open, semi-open, and covered spaces, allowing the family of 4 and their guests to constantly stay in contact with nature. The revealing and concealing quality of the meticulously designed spaces is meant to be lived in as well as experienced. Simple yet creative use of materials ties the spaces together.
The textured concrete wall, the Gulmohar tree courtyard, the swimming pool with a terracotta shade, and the elder son’s room with a mezzanine, are some key highlights of the project.
