About Project
Ananda-Poetry in stone , is a home for a family built using stone and other natural
materials in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Set in the countryside, this house is surrounded by
scenic natural landscape features. Stone being a locally available material
surrounding the site in abundance, the use of stone makes the house blend with the
region and also has cut down the cost of transportation of material resulting in cutting
down the carbon footprint. These initiatives and design elements are taken as a collective effort to minimize the
carbon footprint and build a house that is sustainable and vernacular. The majority of
the decorative elements in the house are soured from nearby regions and many are
even re-purposed antiques.
Keeping in consideration the harsh summers of Rajasthan, the architect has
incorporated features of passive cooling to enhance the user, comfort and maintain
an ambient living condition throughout the year. With well-designed spacious
interiors with a touch of heritage and sustainability, this house gives the users a feel
of ancient havelis of Rajasthan.
