A Colonial Revival

Located in the quaint village of Meivazhi Salai, Sittannavasal near Pudukkottai, this house was conceived as a Paati-Veedu or Grandmother’s House. The typical layout of a Karaikudi house was infused with elements inspired by colonial design style in this single storied house. A grand walkway leads to a huge portico surrounded by a verandah. Elements like stone columns, old windows, stained glasses, and intricate cement artwork is seen on the façade and one is greeted to the interiors of the house by a 100-year-old Chennai style door.
