FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Step into the Villa S, and you'll be greeted by an exquisite play of natural light that streams through its large windows and double-height spaces. The designers have worked their magic by cleverly merging minimal materials to create a sophisticated, yet cosy living space. The best part? The house is loaded with top-notch technology and careful planning that make it a dream home.

Villa S is situated in the heart of Ahmedabad, nestled in the midst of an open and airy neighbourhood surrounded by tennis courts and a municipal school. The site is cleverly divided into two halves, with the residential space on one end and a vast open lawn on the other. A quaint outhouse is situated at one corner of the plot, adding to the charm of the property. As you approach the house, a long driveway leads you from the entry of the plot all the way to the elegant entrance foyer, making for a grand first impression.

THE LAY OF THE PLAN

As you step into Villa S' circular entrance foyer, situated in the northern part of the house, the design of the space is poised to impress you. A soothing water body flanks a series of steps that lead you to the entrance door, adorned with intricate carvings done in pure wood. As you make your way inside, large glass fenestrations provide breathtaking views of the water body outside that surrounds the entire circular entrance foyer. Skylights on the ceiling invite ample daylight inside, adding to the mesmerising ambience.

The ground floor is divided into two sections, with social and semi-social spaces on one end and private spaces on the other. Two living rooms, a dining area, a kitchen, a lounge, and an outdoor seating area are ideal for socialising, while a master bedroom and a guest bedroom provide privacy and comfort.

SPACES AND THEIR MATERIALS

The first thing that catches your eye once inside, is the stunning double-height living room, which is both grand and inviting. With large fenestrations that offer spectacular views of the water body out in the front and the lush green lawn beyond, this living room is a true masterpiece. The grey stone walls and stone flooring exude elegance, while the minimalistic furniture and designer lights add a touch of modernity.

The living room seamlessly connects with the dining space, which is conveniently located right next to it, forming the heart of the house. A large stone table and custom-made furniture take centre stage in this area. Large glass fenestrations allow for a visual connection between the dining space and the outdoor seating area, creating a seamless transition from indoors to outdoors and offering stunning views of the surroundings. The kitchen, located in the south of the house, is equipped with advanced technologies and custom-made modular units. The central steel counter is a standout feature with the rest of the surfaces designed to complement this central element.

For a more private and interactive space, there is a cosy drawing room located towards the west of the house. The double height lends this room a sense of grandeur and elegance. The large artwork mounted on the wall takes the centre stage and becomes the focal point of the room. The drawing room opens onto a small garden which adds to the peaceful and serene environment, making this a perfect spot to unwind and spend quality family time.

The master bedroom is designed to offer a luxurious suite-like experience. A soothing beige colour palette runs throughout the room, creating a sense of calm and relaxation. Custom-made lights illuminate the entire space, adding a touch of sophistication. The wall behind the bed is a combination of stone, fabric, and metal strips, adding a unique texture and visual interest to the room.

On the first floor, there are bedrooms, a home theatre, and a central lounge space that overlooks the double-height entrance passage of the house. The son's bedroom is designed as a suite room with a custom-made bed that has a rotating headboard, allowing for a comfortable space for socialising. The daughter's bedroom has unique elements like a pink fabric headboard, holographic side tables, and bright fabrics for the chairs. The home theatre has a wooden ceiling and fabric walls to maintain good acoustics and opens onto the front balcony.

The second floor is where the family can relax in their private lounge, unwind in the spa room, or take an invigorating outdoor shower. The lounge, in particular, boasts a minimalistic design with a cosy and darker colour scheme that creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Moreover, the lounge opens up to a large terrace that offers a stunning view of the surroundings. The spa and outdoor shower, on the other hand, are designed to look like a single, monolithic space. The walls and floor are covered in the same grey stone, giving the area a seamless and uniform appearance. The interplay of light and shadow throughout the day creates captivating patterns that add to the overall ambience of this space.
