Crafted by architect Hiren Patel of HPA, this residence exemplifies a harmonious blend of contemporary living and the serene beauty of its environment. Tailored to cater to the diverse needs of a multi-generational family, every facet of this space is meticulously designed for comfort and practicality. A fundamental objective of the project was to achieve a harmonious relationship between the built structure and the natural landscape. Embracing the local topography and flora, the design fosters a profound connection with nature, promoting peace and well-being for all its residents.

The built structure, spanning nearly 23,000 sq. ft., is centered around three courtyards. Brimming with lush greenery, these courtyards ensure that the occupants are constantly immersed in nature, providing a tranquil living environment. The house, designed on a single floor, features a central living room as well as a private family room. Essential spaces like the dining area and kitchen are also included. Seven bedrooms, all following the same modular design, are arranged around the periphery. A swimming pool at the entrance enhances the overall serenity of the space. Every room offers outward and inward views toward the courtyards and surrounding landscape.

A Journey to the Inner Sanctum

As a car approaches the house, it halts just outside the main gate, ensuring no vehicles enter the plot. This deliberate pause creates curiosity among visitors and encourages them to engage fully with the house from their very first step. The roundabout is not just functional but also an aesthetically designed porch, featuring the main entrance under a gazebo. From the gazebo, a pathway of stepping stones leads to the foyer of the house.

Walking from the gazebo to the entrance foyer, one can immerse oneself in the surrounding greenery, listen to the chirping of birds, feel the soft brush of leaves, and catch glimpses of water bodies scattered around. It's a journey of exploration where the pathway seems to prepare visitors for what lies ahead—a tranquil and immersive experience that unfolds step by step.

Upon reaching the main entrance, a large foyer with sloping roofs warmly welcomes guests inside, offering glimpses of the various spaces waiting to be explored. Directly in front of the main door, one encounters an extravagant pooja room. Adorned in white, this serene space immediately instills a sense of peace in visitors. The background of the pooja area features intricately carved marble that gleams under soft illumination. Thoughtfully kept uncluttered for daily use, the room's grandeur imbues a distinctly Indian essence.

The journey from the roundabout, meandering through the landscape, passing by the pooja space, and further into the house, evokes a sense of pilgrimage into peace and calm. It's as if each step is a deliberate movement towards finding solace, guided by the serene surroundings and thoughtful design elements that envelop visitors in tranquility and harmony.

The Heart of the House

As one explores the meticulously designed spaces of the house, a singular feature emerges that unifies the entire residence—the central courtyard. Positioned at the heart of the home, this courtyard is more than just a physical connector; it embodies an oasis of serenity and harmony. Drawing inspiration from the symmetry of royal gardens, it is meticulously laid out along axes that extend from each corner of the house, ensuring a cohesive flow and connectivity between all areas.

Four distinct pathways of stepping stones guide visitors from the house to the central seating area within the courtyard. Here, expansive outdoor seating arrangements invite residents and guests alike to unwind and enjoy moments of peace. Surrounding this central space, water features grace each side, imparting a sense of tranquility akin to an island retreat. The lush greenery, including vibrant Champa trees adorned with pink flowers, adds a burst of color and vitality, animating the courtyard with natural beauty.

Adding a contemporary flair, strategically placed metal sculptures in striking electric blue punctuate the landscape. These artistic accents not only complement but also elevate the courtyard's aesthetic, introducing dynamic contrasts against the backdrop of white walls and verdant foliage. Some rooms feature a grand four-poster bed, adding a touch of vintage charm, while others are equipped with sleek, modern, minimalist beds that keep the aesthetic simple and elegant.
