SITE CONTEXT

Defying the idea that small plots impose space limitations, this extraordinary dwelling shatters such preconceived notions and proves that innovation knows no boundaries. Nestled within a bustling neighbourhood in Surat, the Tiny House project emerges as a testament to the harmonious integration of modern living within a compact space. Its seamless assimilation with the local context showcases a masterful design approach, effortlessly blending contemporary amenities with cultural significance.

In the vibrant neighbourhood of Sagrampura, Surat, amidst narrow streets and tightly packed houses, a remarkable house stands as a testament to ingenuity and sustainability. This project embarks on a transformative journey to redefine the conventional "Gala" house, embracing a humanistic approach that prioritizes modesty and ecological consciousness. With a compact site posing challenges of limited light and ventilation, the architects embarked on a daring mission to divide the house into two distinct sections. The front section welcomes abundant natural light and fresh air, serving as a sanctuary for living and relaxation, while the rear portion discreetly houses circulation and essential services.

UP THE FLOORS

The ground floor of this house is dedicated to two-wheeler parking, optimizing space utilization. A vertical hume pipe extends from the ground floor to the first-floor balcony, offering the possibility of incorporating a tree within the structure and enhancing the desired spatial quality of the building.

The first floor unveils a living area with exposed concrete ceilings and plastered walls, exuding a contemporary charm. Customised wall-hung sofas in subtle green fabric, paired with white oak wood and laminate, add comfort and warmth to the space. The mosaic flooring, made from black kadappa stone infused with grey terrazzo, extends throughout the entire house. The living area features a balcony that brings nature closer, creating a ground-hugging effect. Perforated screens replace conventional windows, allowing natural light to filter in while maintaining privacy.

The second floor is dedicated to the kitchen, dining area, and powder toilet. The house's material palette showcases the craftsmanship and tactile materials, creating a stylish and functional space.

The third floor houses the kids' bedroom, benefiting from direct daylight. This well-lit and comfortable space ensures an enjoyable environment for the little ones. The fourth floor reveals the master bedroom, offering a serene sanctuary for relaxation. White walls, complemented by a pale grey bed back, harmonize with the light wood furniture, creating a soothing ambience. A cantilevered balcony provides a vantage point to overlook the street.

The terrace floor presents a luxurious touch with a customized jacuzzi and a shower area, all elegantly crafted from green marble. This tranquil leisure space serves as a retreat for the residents, allowing them to unwind and recharge. Strategic placement of aluminium box sections disrupts partial visibility, ensuring privacy while enjoying the outdoor amenities.
