A WARM EMBRACE OF MOTHER NATURE

The home follows a trail of the 3 R’s; Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to metamorphose into an eco-haven for its inhabitants. Wrapped in a screen of terracotta blocks, this proud dwelling maintains a harmonious temperature throughout its structure. The ensemble of chunky blocks placed at defined angles on the façade serves as a captivating prelude to the interiors that sit gracefully. This enclave shields its inner sanctum from the harsh light, while simultaneously orchestrating an interesting game of peek-a-boo of shadows throughout the day.

The modest entry of the home is through an intricately designed MS mesh gate, offering sneak peeks of the parking area that also plays the part of a kids play area. Glazed with exposed concrete, this space emanates a refreshingly cool ambiance, both visually and bodily.

INTO THE WOODLAND

A hike on an exposed concrete ramp takes one to the main entrance to this resplendent home. A sinuous covering overhead orchestrates an illusion of a forest clearing, allowing glimpses of the sky between the branches. Similar to a mirage appearing to satiate the wanderer's thirst, a lily pond unveils itself at the entry, imparting a refreshing and cooling effect to the space.

Upon crossing the threshold, a living room unfolds in its full glory. With a harmonious fusion of terracotta cladding and exposed concrete ceiling, the space  imparts a warm and cool ambiance simultaneously. Adjacent to the entry, a temple is tucked away behind an intricately carved, wooden door. Another ramp escorts one to the family area, where a jhoola proudly sits, exuding a soft whiff of nostalgia. A light-weight staircase made of perforated MS sheet leads one to the upper floors, exclusively reserved for the family. A series of bedrooms strategically sit at varying elevations from each other, mirroring the natural contours of a raw terrain. The bedrooms are bathed in the gentle glow of filtered light, coming in from the attached sit-out space.

As the home conveniences one of its rugged nature, a gentle caress of verdant hues infiltrates one’s vision. Trickling out of the bedrooms, are these attached verandahs lined with lush greenery. Scattered strategically throughout the home, these verandahs attach themselves to spaces where the family spends the majority of their time.
